Joseph (Joe) Wolfe, cherished father figure, beloved friend and a beacon of light for many, peacefully went home to be with our Lord and Savior on July 4, 2026 as loved ones were singing ‘It Is Well with My Soul’. Born on June 15, 1933, in Akron, Ohio, Joe was the beloved son of Steve and Mary (Biro) Wolfe. He lived a life full of love, dedication, and service, touching countless hearts along the way.
A proud veteran, Joe served his country with honor in the Navy for four years, a testament to his unwavering commitment to duty and patriotism. Upon returning to civilian life, he dedicated decades of service to the Akron Police Department, first as a police officer and then as a detective, retiring in 1988. Throughout his career, Joe was known for his integrity, sharp wit, and the genuine care he showed to his community.
Beyond his professional life, Joe was an artist at heart. His passion for sketching and painting was a beautiful expression of his creativity and joy. His artwork captured the beauty of the world around him, serving as a testament to his deep appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
Joe was also a gifted storyteller, captivating audiences with his countless tales. His stories, often laced with humor and wisdom, were a source of joy and reflection for those lucky enough to hear them. More than just stories, they were lessons in life, love, and faith, always infused with his deep commitment to spreading God’s word.
Known for his warm spirit and infectious joy, Joe was a man who brought light and laughter into every room he entered. His presence was a gift, and his joyful demeanor was a comfort to all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, faith, and love, a legacy that will continue to inspire and uplift.
Joe is predeceased by his loving parents, his sister Mary (Wolfe) Vanyo, and his brother Steven Wolfe. He leaves behind a large, loving family, including many nieces, nephews, and a multitude of friends who will cherish his memory forever.
As we remember Joe, let us celebrate a life well lived, a man well loved, and a soul now at peace. To know Joe, is to celebrate in his death as he has Graduated, his life now in the presence of Jesus Christ! He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of those he touched.
Please join us in celebrating Joe’s life. Burial to take place at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road, Seville, OH 44273. Please arrive 10 minutes early, promptness is a must. Following burial, a Memorial Service with a luncheon will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Lakeside Christian Church, 3535 Knollwood Ln., Akron, OH 44333.
