Josephine E. (Flickinger) Stanley

BARBERTON---Josephine S. Stanley (nee Flickinger), 101, beloved wife, sister and aunt was born in 1916 to Ella and John Flickinger and entered into eternal peace on September 14, 2018.

She was a graduate of the University of Akron in 1939 and taught in the Barberton School District ending her career as the Dean of Women at Barberton High School in 1974. Josephine was a lifelong member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. She was an avid reader, enjoyed word puzzles and watching sports on TV. She never missed celebrating a holiday or birthday party. Josephine was known for having ice cream parties when family came to visit. Everyone got a candy bar on their way out the door. Thanks to all her special caregivers and friends for all the love and support.

Preceded in death by her husband John, brothers Raymond, Vincent, Regis and William; She leaves behind her sister-in-law, Helen Flickinger; and many special nieces and nephews.

Josephine’s Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St. NW, Barberton. Private Entombment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the Magic City Kiwanis Esther Ryan Shoe Fund, the Barberton Area Community Ministries or St. Augustine Endowment Trust Fund.
