Katherine J. Vargo

BARBERTON -- Katherine J. Vargo, 93, passed away January 5, 2010 at Pleasant View Health Care Center. Born in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, she had been a Barberton resident all her life where she worked at Firestone Tire and Rubber Co., Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic School and Yoder Brothers. Kay was a member of the former Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church where she was active in both St. Anne's and the Rosary Society. Preceded in death by her husband, Calman; sister, Anna Konrad; brother, Joseph Buhalak; and stepbrother, John Becker; survivors include her daughter, Kathy (Jim) Tomer of Barberton; grandchildren, Brian (Annette) Tomer, Sarah Tomer and Emily Tomer; and great-grandchildren, Erica and Alli. The family wishes to thank the entire staff at Pleasant View Health Care Center for their loving care of Mom. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 8, 2010, 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Rev. Robert Jackson celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where payers will be said Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Diabetes Assoc., American Cancer Society or Pleasant View Activities Fund.
