NORTON - Kathleen Ruth Okolish (née Nagle) passed away peacefully on March 5, 2022. Kathleen was born on December 5, 1933 in Akron, Ohio and later moved to Norton with her family where she enjoyed country living. She was preceded in death by her first husband Robert Stump, and her second husband of 63 years Robert Okolish; parents, Sheldon and Zita Nagle (née Sharp); and her sisters Jeanne Paulus and Winnie Amato. Kathleen is survived by her children Robert (Marilyn) Stump, Dave Stump, Theresa Okolish, Marty (Donna) Okolish, Regina (Ben) Bartram, Ruth (Kris) Klee, and Joseph A. Okolish; 21 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. Kathy was a devoted member of Prince of Peace Church where she volunteered for fish fries and funeral luncheons, was a member of the strudel and potica making crews, and enjoyed being a member of the choir. She was also a member of the Magic City Singers where she sang alto in their yearly Christmas concert of Handel’s Messiah. Kathleen always loved music, especially classical. In her later years she enjoyed curating the perfect playlists. Kathleen also served her community as a volunteer for the Barberton Red Cross and the Summit County Board of Elections. Kathleen spent the majority of her life as a homemaker and loving mother and grandmother. She always said the thing she was most proud of was her family. As a mom and grandma, she encouraged exploration and creativity with her children and grandchildren. Her patience and kindness was surely inspired by her own mother, a schoolteacher who always said, “you never want to break their [children’s] spirit.” Kathleen honored her mother with unwavering love towards her family. Kathleen shared with her family her tastes in music, her knack for baking, enthusiasm for bird watching, and her green thumb. She especially enjoyed her backyard crabapple tree where she fed and watched the birds while listening to their beautiful songs. In her later years she loved watching old movies with her husband Bob, and their dog, Sweetie, and always looked forward to the companionship of family dinners where her sense of humor continued to shine through. Kathy’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 11, 2022 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Fr. Robert Jackson celebrant.
