BARBERTON----Kathleen M. "Kay" Wenner, (nee Tonathy), 82, passed away peacefully on March 19, 2014 at the Hospice Care Center. Kay was born to Kathleen and George Tonathy in Belfast, Northern Ireland and arrived in the United States at the age of six months. She graduated from Barberton High School, was employed by the City of Barberton as the secretary to Mayor Parker and later worked for Barberton Citizens Hospital in the secretarial pool. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church. Kay was married to Jerome Wenner for 53 years until his death in July of 2006. She was also preceded in death by her parents George and Kathleen; and grandson Michael McNair; Survivors include her children, Kathleen (Albert) Payne, Mary Beth Swickard, Ann (Kevin) Dirling, Theresa (Terry) Cope, Thomas (Dawn) and Charles (Kari); grandchildren Katie (Lucas) Bower, Amy McNair, Carolyn Payne, Beth, Brian, Kyle (Alexandria) and Keri Swickard, Andy and Matt Vielhaber, Michael and Tamara Cope, Brittany, Samantha and Isabella Wenner, Megan and Steven Cleer and Madilyn and Mason Wenner; great grandchildren Evelyn and Fiona Bower and Philip Swickard; brother G. Murray (Mary Lou) Tonathy; and sisters-in-law Catherine and Mary Wenner. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. on Saturday March 22, 2014 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204-6th St. NW, Barberton. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on Tuesday. Calling hours Friday from 5-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton where prayers will be said Saturday morning at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Augustine Endowment Trust Fund, 204-6th St. NW, Barberton or VNS Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, OH 44333.
