Kenneth L. Schwenning, of Norton, Ohio, passed away on 8/21/24 at the age of 79. Born in Dunbar, Pennsylvania, to the late Robert and Emma Schwenning. Ken was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, and he served his country with honor and bravery. After leaving the army with an honorable discharge, Ken worked in the polymer industry, retiring from Killian Latex after 22 years.
Born with a gift for storytelling, Ken had a way of captivating those around him with tales from his life – whether recounting his time in the Army, relating tales of Charlie and Queenie, his pet monkey and dog, or sharing memories with family and friends. His warmth and humor made him a beloved figure in the lives of those who knew him.
Ken is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Mary; his loving son Kenneth (Jo Anna) Schwenning II and his two cherished grandchildren; Seneca Schwenning and Ryan Schwenning. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Beth) Schwenning, his brother-in-law's; Frank (Kathleen) Pantuso and Richard Pantuso and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters; Sandy Evans, Bobbi Turley, Joyce Speegle and Sharon Parker and brother; Robert Schwenning.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St. NW., Barberton. Calling Hours One Hour Prior to the mass at the church. Burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery at 12:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or St Augustine Church.
