Kimberley ”Kim” Ann Miller (Pappas), 66, passed away in the early morning hours of July 19, 2025 at home on Miller Pond in Norton, Ohio completing her six-year journey of her diagnosis of appendix cancer in 2019.
Her first cancer diagnosis, breast cancer, came in 2014 on April 17th, exactly five years to the day prior to her appendix cancer diagnosis. Kimmy wasn’t done fighting until two days before her passing. To be honest she wasn’t done even then, but her body simply couldn’t go on. Kim left this Earth in a graceful, beautiful transition, and that memory will always feel like she was telling us she did it “My Way”.
Kim graduated from Norton High School in 1977 and took classes at the University of Akron. She had many jobs, with the last being a scheduler at Aleris Rolled Products in Uhrichsville, Ohio.
After briefly living in California, Kim returned to her hometown of Norton. She was involved in several community organizations along with her husband, Blake. She always gave 110% in her service to others. The list includes Norton Alumni Association, Norton Cider Festival, Copley-Norton Lions Club, where she served as President. She also received the highest form of recognition with Lions Clubs International, the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Kim was a founding member of Wolf Creek Players, Inc. Norton’s first community theater. It was also where she “re-met” Blake, a 1978 grad and classmate at NHS. They married December 29, 2007. The rest, as they say, is history.
Kim lived her life with such spirit and fun, even as she dealt with cancer. She had a wicked sense of humor, either in person or on social media. Kim was fondly known as the Amazon Queen. Looking for something? Anything? …she found it. Kim was strong and determined to live her life to the fullest. She never stopped. Adversity came and went, and came and went, and came again, but the smile, that smile that those who knew her loved, remained with her even through her transition.
Kim was predeceased in death by her parents, George James Pappas and Dorothy A. Pappas, and fur babies Snuggles and Rhoda. She is survived by her loving husband and soulmate, Blake; her brother, Keith (Christine) Pappas; nephews, Joseph, Luke, and Daniel Pappas; her beloved poodle, Lola; longtime friend, Donna Longfellow, her Sebastian, FL family; and many friends, classmates, and those who came to follow her story and supported her throughout these last six years.
Special thanks to her medical teams: Cleveland Clinic Main Campus: Dr. Bassam Estfan, Dr. Michael Valenta, Dr. Hassan Siddiki, Dr. Christopher Weight. Cleveland Clinic Akron General: Dr. Zenab Laiq, friend, Karla Schultz , and the Hospice Team of Cleveland Clinic Akron General, and to the Norton Fire Department
