It is with heavy hearts and a knowing smile that we announce the passing of Larrie Marie Hornacek known simply and lovingly as “Gram” to her grandkids. Larrie left us on July 27, 2026, at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy of quick wit and just enough wild spirit to keep everyone on their toes.
Born on October 5, 1947, in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Lawrence V. Riccilli and Alberta L. Ricilli. She proudly spent most of her life in the Barberton, Ohio area.
Larrie was a true firecracker. She wasn’t one to sugarcoat things, and her sharp Barberton humor and no-nonsense attitude meant you always knew where you stood with her. Behind that feisty exterior, however, was a heart of gold and a deep, unconditional love for her family and friends.
Larrie worked hard for many years, eventually retiring from Barberton Hospital. When she wasn’t working, you could find her soaking up some sun, with her favorite rays coming down on Clearwater Beach, FL. Above all else, Larrie loved being around her grandchildren and soaking up every chaotic, joyful moment of family life.
She was welcomed into Heaven by her parents, Lawrence and Alberta, husband, Edward Hornacek, sister, Christi Riccilli, son, Richard Harris, and great-grandson, Christian Smith.
Larrie leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Robin Owens, son, William Calvert, both of Akron, her brother John (Connie) Riccilli of Springfield. Her grandchildren, Rachelle Owens, Renee Owens, Drew Harris, Tyler Harris, Jacob Harris, Makaylee (Ryan) Calvert, Lindsey Calvert and Marshall Calvert.
Her memory will also live on through her great-grandchildren, Ryan (Savannah) Smith, Alexys (Magnus) Smith, Jasmyne Hale, Renee’Sha Simmons, Donald Simmons, Dallas Simmons, Ashton Harris, Purity Harris and Silas Harris. Great-Great-Grandchildren, Ryan Smith Jr., Luka Smith, Maximus Mosley and Legend Simmons.
She will be forever missed by her best friend and sister in every Lifetime, Suzanne Dague. #THELMA’N’LOUISE 4EVER
She was ready for whatever adventure came next. Heaven better be prepared for a whole lot of sparkle, laughter and straight talk.
A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam,
And for a brief moment it’s glory and beauty belong to the world.
But then it flies again,
And though we wish it could have stayed…
We feel Lucky to have seen it.
Larrie’s Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 3rd, 2026 at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Burial at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling Hours ONE HOUR PRIOR to THE SERVICE.
