Louis Joseph Nahas (Joe), 51, of Green passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully in his sleep, on Wednesday June 3rd, 2015. He was born on January 21st, 1964 in Hot Springs, Arkansas where he lived until his family moved to the Akron area in 1978. Joe graduated from Firestone High School in 1982, later attending Kent State University majoring in Criminal Justice. Joe joined the Barberton Police Department in 1992, where he proudly protected and served the citizens of Barberton until a debilitating work-related injury caused him to retire as a Lieutenant in 2006. Joe loved adventure; prior to his injury, he bravely ran with the bulls in Pamplona, Spain. He was a voracious reader and loved all types of history. However, he was most passionate about his 9 year-old son, Jack. Joe loved spending time with Jack and was so proud of how kind-hearted and gentle his son is. Preceded in death by both his father, Michael Nahas, and younger brother Michael Nahas of Little Rock, Arkansas, Joe is survived by his son, Jack of Green; mother Cynthia of Barberton; sister Micah Eberhardt of Vermont; niece Natalie (Seth) Harrington of Munroe Falls, and nephews Chaz and Sam Eberhardt of Vermont. Joe is also survived by his former wife and mother of his only child, Tracy (Myers) Nahas of Green, with whom he remained very close to up until the time of his death. Cremation will take place, with Joe's ashes being scattered over Bear Cave Mountain in the Ozarks. It was here where he spent much of his childhood, and where Joe's father's ashes were also scattered. According to Joe's wishes, no funeral services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Jack Nahas Trust Fund at Integrity Federal Credit Union.
