Margaret R. Bird

Margaret Rose Bird, (nee Diamond), 79, passed away May 14, 2026.

Margaret was born in Barberton and had been an area resident all her life. She graduated from St. May’s High School and then from The University of Akron in 1971 with her teaching degree. Margaret went on to teach 4 years at Sacred Heart Grade School in Barberton, 41 years at St. Augustine Grade School in Barberton then after retirement she taught 7 years at Johnson United Methodist Pre-School in Norton. Margaret was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Norton.

Preceded in death by her husbands David Burnley and John Bird; and parents William and Rose Diamond; she is survived by her sister Carol (Frank) Somodi; nephews Paul, Mark and David Somodi; and many other nieces, nephews and friends.

Margaret’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours One Hour Prior to the Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
