Marie Collins, 92, passed away on October 25, 2014 and Heaven gained a beautiful angel. She was a kind and caring person loved by all that met her.
Born in Barberton, Marie proudly served in the United States Coast Guard during WW II.
A lifetime Barberton resident Marie raised her family, worked at O'Neils, Deuber Insurance and Edwin Shaw Hospital. She loved to swim, exercise and share coffee and conversation with the group at Steiner Pool. Also enjoyed the Pensioners and the Birthday Group. A longtime volunteer, Marie brought comfort to Veterans at the Brecksville Veterans Hospital and Edwin Shaw Hospital.
Marie continued to attend Coast Guard veteran's reunions, monthly meetings and maintained friendships for the rest of her life. "Porky" and her friends travelled around the world on many adventures.
Marie was an active member of St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church in Norton.
Preceded in death by her husband Charles and her eldest son Russ, Marie leaves behind her daughter and caregiver Maureen Collins, son Mark (Jill) Collins and Daughter-in-law Cheryl Collins. Five grandchildren Michael Collins, Caroline ( Andrew) Berthiaume, Eric (Katie) Riemenschneider, Jennifer (Matt) Aller, and Michael (Selena) Rossetti.
Six great-grandchildren Clayton, Kyle, and Rhys Riemenschneider, Olivia and Isabella Aller and Valerie Rossetti.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. followed by the funeral service at 12:00 P.M. at St. Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church 5451 S. Cleveland-Massillion Rd., Norton. Internment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to St. Matthews Evangelical Lutheran Church.
