Marie I. (Tootie) Farrell, a dearly loved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother, passed away shortly after midnight on Tuesday, September 1st surrounded by her family. She was 92 years old and was in rapidly declining health. She rested, and died peacefully in her sleep, never having to suffer another day. Though we mourn her loss, we find peace and joy in knowing the Lord has called her home.
She was born to John and Emma Badunas and called Barberton her home from that day to this. Although she never went to college she had a PhD in common sense. By no means did she have an easy life, but she never backed down from a challenge and always kept her family first. She was always generous with her time and always loved unconditionally. Her devotion to her family, and the encouragement and hope she always supplied, will be deeply missed. She never missed a moment to tell her family how much she loved them, how proud she was of them, and how grateful she was to have them in her life. Mom was the glue that held the family together and the solid rock that never wavered. She always enjoyed having people stop by her home to visit. You never left her home hungry, and she believed food was all about love, family, and comfort.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Farrell, brother, Andrew (John) Badunas, sisters, Delores Andrus and Cleo Anders, and stepchildren, Thomas Farrell, Wanda Duckworth and Jean Ginise. She will be greatly missed by her children, Cathleen (Richard) Hansen, John (Cheryl) Farrell, Andrea Farrell (Bill Conte) all of Barberton. In addition, she leaves her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren to cherish her memories and who will deeply miss their devoted Yia-Yia.
Mom, your passing has left a hole in our lives that will never be filled by anyone or anything. The love, support, faith and guidance that you showered upon us during your life will be passed on to future generations. Heaven has gained an angel who is now resting peacefully. We are so proud to have had such a wonderful mother and we so LOVE YOU MORE!
It's okay to feel the pain when someone passes away. You can't have an up without a down, a right without a left, a back without a front - or a happy without a sad. This is the price you pay for having a great mother. You get the wonder, the joy, the tender moments - and you get the tears at the end, too.
Life goes by fast, don't waste a moment, tell the ones you love how you feel, show affection every chance you get - because you will give anything to kiss that person's cheek one more time.
Calling hours will be held TONIGHT from 5-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Road West, Barberton. Mass of the Christian burial will take place on Thursday, September 3rd, 10:00 A.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Avenue, Norton. Fr. Robert Jackson, celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Though mom thoroughly enjoyed flowers, she would prefer memorials in her name to Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Pleasant View Health Care Center who treated mom with such great care and compassion. It was appreciated more than you know. In addition, a special thank you to family friend Pam Bruno for her love and family support.
