Martha Ann Macko (nee Zipay) passed away peacefully on March 4, 2025, after a brief illness at the age of 77. She was born on May 4, 1947, in Sharon PA to the late Michael and Helen Zipay.
Martha was a 1965 graduate of Farrell Senior High School (Farrell, PA) and a 1970 graduate of Youngstown State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education and a minor in Secretarial Studies. After graduation she worked as an adult educational teacher and substitute teacher from April 1970 to June 1971.
It was during a church youth group trip in the late 60's that she met her future husband, Thomas C. Macko. They were married on August 21, 1971 in St. Peter & Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Sharon PA. They were blessed with two sons, Cy Michael, and Sol Thomas.
Marty (as she got to be known by) enjoyed supporting her sons’ school activities as they grew up. She was proud when her eldest son, Cy, graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point and her other son, Sol, graduated from Purdue.
Marty and Tom enjoyed walking the Metro Park's hiking trails together. They were also able to take a trip a trip to Germany to visit their son and daughter-in-law Tina when he was stationed there in the Army. She was active in her church as a financial secretary for many years. She also served as an active voting poll worker in the Norton area for over 20 years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Thomas C Macko, and eldest son Cy Michael Macko. She is survived by her youngest son Sol Thomas (Shelly), daughter-in-law Tina Macko, grandchildren Michaela, Colby and Sean. She will be missed by her extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Martha’s Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 5451 S. Cleveland Massillon Rd. Norton. Pastors Joel Zipay and Jon Carpenter, officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling hours will be one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
