NORTON---Mary A. (Mimi) Jonas, 89 passed away peacefully on the morning of January 14, 2013 surrounded by her family. Born in Barberton, she worked most of her life as a medical secretary and homemaker. She was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church (formerly Sacred Heart), the Slovene Pensioners Club and Domovina Lodge and was very proud of her Slovenian Heritage. She was preceded in death by parents John and Mary Cerne; loving husband of 63 years, Ernest; their twin infant daughters, Kathleen Marie and Jean Marie; and brother, John Cerne. She is survived by daughter, Mary Frances (William) Helmick, Grandchildren Pamela Helmick, Rod (Diane) Helmick and Debra (Jose) Sandoval; Great Grandchildren James, Jennifer, Ashley, Zach and Stephanie Helmick and Miranda Sandoval. Sisters Josephine Pyle and Frances (Ray) Pelton, Sisters-In-Law Jane Lesiak and Ruth and Eileen Jonas; and many loving nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Barberton Summa Hospital for their love and support to Mimi and her family during the past two weeks. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling Hours Friday from 6-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Saturday morning at 10 A.M. Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Church.
