Melvin H. Hostetler

Melvin H. Hostetler, 94, passed away on September 11, 2026 surrounded by his family. 

He enjoyed bringing kindness to all his situations and relationships.

Mel's primary occupation for 40 years was a maintenance Head Carpenter position at Akron City Hospital (now Summa), where he made many fond relationships and was highly respected for his talents.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents; Henry and Lucinda Hostetler; sisters, Beulah, Lovina, Mary and Viola; brother, Erwin, children; Daniel and David Hostetler; grandchildren; Brandy & Tommy. He is survived by his wife , Beverly J.; children; Thomas, Lucinda, Laura, Jennifer and Thomas D., 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who offered support, care and prayers during this journey. 

Melvin's Memorial Service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, September 25, 2026 at Community Church of Portage Lakes, 3260 Cormany Rd., Akron. Pastor Don George officiating.
