Michael L. Brindo Jr.

Michael L. Brindo Jr., 86, died peacefully at home on November 15, 2024 after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born February 25, 1938, he is survived by wife Janet (Adair)of 66 years and children, Jeff Brindo, Debbie (Joe) Sparks, Sue (Phill) Ciccolini, Michael (Caroline) Brindo III. Grandchildren Anthony (Jess) Ciccolini, Jamie (Tim) Diss, Rachel (Tim) Dailey, Ella Brindo, Jack Brindo and five great grandchildren.

Michael also leaves behind sisters Kathy and Eileen Brindo, and brother Dan Brindo. Preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Anne (Firis) Brindo, sister Gloria Lash, son Bob and grandson Derek.

Mike was a lifelong resident of Barberton, OH. He retired as an Asst. Fire Chief from the City of Barberton Fire Dept in 1991 after 27 years of service. He also worked as a house painter throughout the years on his off days from the fire department.

Mike was an avid hiker. He hiked parts of the Appalachian Trail, Long Trail & Buckeye Trail. He belonged to the High Pointer’s club in which he hiked the highpoint of 46 of the 50 states, including hiking the highest point Mt. Whitney as a memorial to his beloved son, Bob.  Mike also enjoyed traveling in their VW camper van with his wife Janet traveling together across the country on many adventures. He kept busy in recent years with numerous hobbies including making birdhouses for friends and family.

Mike was loved and cherished by all who knew him and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Mike's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 21, 2024 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St. NW., Barberton. Burial at Copley Cemetery. Calling Hours will be on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. A Last Alarm Service will be at 6:40 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Mike's name can be made to the Barberton Firefighters Local #329, 580 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, OH 44203.
