Mildred J. Glunt

BARBERTON---Mildred Glunt, 97, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012, with her brother Peter by her side. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Anna Dutka (nee Razga); sisters, Anna Pokopac and Helen Danko; and brothers, Steven, Andrew and John. She leaves behind her daughters Judy (Larry) McKinney, Janet Glunt (Mike Hodgen); grandsons Jack McKinney (Utahna), Travis McKinney and Michael Hodgen; great granddaughter Marissa McKinney, step-great granddaughters Morgan, Delaney and Isabella; and her brother, Peter Dutka. She also leaves her two special nieces Dorothy "Do" Speziale and Helen "Toots" Pontius. Mildred worked at the Diamond Match for 15 years, from 1937 until 1952, when she married and became a fulltime housewife and mother. Mom was known to her family as making the best apple pie anywhere! She also made the warmest quilts and afghans ever. Even when Mom was in her 70s, it was not unusual to see her in the backyard playing wiffle ball with one of her grandsons. Mom was one of Elvis' biggest fans. You could never go wrong buying her anything that had to do with Elvis. She loved music and dancing and there is a celebration in heaven now with Mom dancing the polka and her brothers playing in the band. One of the things her family loved about her was that she had a quiet, calming way about her that left you feeling safe and sound. Things were always better just by being in her presence. She devoted her life to her family, always putting them before herself. The family would like to thank her physician, Dr. Y. T. Wu, for his compassionate care. Also, thank you to all the people at Barberton Manor Care that made Mom's stay one that was eventually a place she called "home". Who would have thought there could be so many angels in one place. Calling hours will be at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Road West, Barberton on Monday, December 3, 2012 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM., where Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at 10:00 AM. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
