Nona E. Latham

BARBERTON---Nona E. Latham, 95, passed away Friday, May 30,
2014 at Summa Akron City Hospital. Born in Barberton to the late William and
Margaret (Beam) Latham, she had been a Barberton resident all of her life. Nona
was a member of the Johnson United Methodist Church all her life where she
taught church school classes of all ages, worked with the young people's group
for many years, served as church school secretary and was chairman of the
Administrative Board for many years. She was a lay delegate to the Ohio East
Conference for four years and served on many committees including finance,
pastor relations, building and others. She belonged to the Johnson United
Women's group and served as president for numerous years.

Nona received her B.A. and M.A. degrees from the University
of Akron. She taught in the elementary schools of Barberton for 30 years where
she was very active in the Barberton Teacher's Association, having served a
term as president and was a member of the Grievance Committee.

After retirement from the Barberton Schools she was
committed to doing volunteer work. She served on the Barberton Citizens
Salvation Army Board for 25 years, delivered mobile meals for to shut-ins for
16 years, belonged to the Barberton Welfare Committee and BACM for many years.

Preceded in death by her parents; sister Alice Scott;
brothers William and Robert (Juanita) Latham; Nona is survived by her sister
Margaret Vasiloff and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 2,
2014, 11:00am, at Johnson United Methodist Church, 3409 Johnson Rd., Norton,
Rev. Ken Gifford, officiating. Burial at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling Hours
10:00am until the time of service at the church.
