BARBERTON---Norma June Sukie, 83, passed away unexpectedly after surgery on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Norma was born in Barberton to the late Orrin and Marie Richards. She was a graduate of Barberton High School Class of 1950 and the City Hospital of Akron School of Nursing. She retired in 1994 as an RN from Akron City Hospital.
Norma was a member of the former Ss. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church and currently a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She enjoyed life in general, music, poetry, vacations at the beach and her trips to the casino. There was nothing more precious though to her than being a wife, mother and grandmother.
Preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter Regina Marie; brothers William, Orrin and Norman; and sister Elaine Richards; She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Joseph C.; daughters Rebecca Sukie, Linda Sukie, Sandra (Ernest) Povirk, Theresa (Daniel) Askew and Victoria (Joe) Pasternak; Her legacy of love will also continue through her 12 grandchildren. Norma also leaves her brother Donald (Dolores) Richards; brother-in-law Louis (Donna) Sukie; sister-in-law Violet Sukie; and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed greatly by all.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Rev. Robert Jackson celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Sunday from 3-6 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Monday morning at 9:30 A.M. Memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Church.
