Paula Jean Yurko, 73, of Barberton, passed away at her home on December 21, 2025.
She lived in Seattle, Washington for more than 30 years, and worked as a paralegal/secretary for several different law firms there. She graduated from Barberton High School, Class of 1970. She attended the University of Akron, where she obtained a BA Degree in Teaching. Paula was a lifelong member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church, where she was a member of the choir. She was an avid singer and a gifted musician. She also spoke several different languages. Paula enjoyed polka dancing, going to ethnic festivals and going to dinner with family and friends. She was an animal lover and adopted many kitties during her lifetime. She had a contagious laugh and enjoyed meeting people. Just like her dad, she enjoyed a good "Scotch on the Rocks".
Paula was preceded in death by her parents, Steve and Helen Yurko, her Grandparents, Steve and Katy Yurko and Thomas and Pauline Shemuga. She is survived by her Uncle Dan and Aunt Stephanie Shemuga, her cousins, Carla and Kelly Stacey, Kevin Shemuga, Kim Bishop, Sonny and Mike Shemuga and Rick and Nicholas Gray. Graveside Services will be held on January 22, 2026 at St. Nicholas Byzantine Cemetery on Cleveland-Massillon Road at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Miron Kerel-Kmec Officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to a local animal shelter in her name.
