Pauline passed from this earth and into God's arms on Sunday, October 2, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona. She was born to Suzanna (Klesh) and Michael (Nicholas) Kochur on July 22 in Byesville, Ohio. As a young woman she moved to Akron, Ohio where she met her husband Michael whom she married on July 19, 1941. While he was deployed in World War II she worked at Firestone. After the war she and Mike started their family. They conceived five children, four of whom lived: Susan, Michael, Pauline, and Teresa. Pauline was a devoted mother and stayed active in her children's activities. She was an untiring room mother, Girl Scout leader, Den mother, and band parent. Pauline was active in the PTA at Pfeiffer, Innis, and Kenmore high schools. She served terms as Treasurer and President and traveled to state conventions as a voting delegate. Pauline had many interests. She loved to sing and was a proud member of the Mother Singers. She was an avid gardener and loved flowers. She was a member of the Rose Society, entered flowers shows and won, and loved arranging flowers and sharing them with others. She loved cake decorating and made all of her family's birthday cakes. She was an avid reader and an advocate for education. Pauline was active in her church, Sts. Cyril and Methodius in Barberton, Ohio, where she served as a Eucharistic minister. She was also active in St. Ann's Society where she held many offices including President. She led pilgrimages to Carey, Ohio. After her children were grown, Pauline worked at Polsky's and in the voting booth as a presiding judge. She and Mike became active members of the Kenmore Senior Citizens group, where she was Treasurer and President. Pauline loved to travel. She went to places she had only dreamed of as a child. She traveled to Lourdes, France; Germany; Italy; Austria; and Hawaii. When their children were young, she and Mike took them on vacations throughout the United States to historical landmarks, national parks, Disneyland, and Cape Canaveral where they watched a rocket launch. She believed that children learned more if they experienced things for themselves. She stressed the importance of an education to her children and grandchildren. She was also proud of her Slovak heritage and traditions. A devoted mother, loving wife, caring daughter, involved citizen, Pauline lived her life the way she taught her children to: whatever you attempt, do it the very best that you can. She believed that you could be whatever you wanted to be. She lived the life God gave her to its fullest, often overcoming odds. Through it all, she was the epitome of a lady. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Mike to whom she was married for 50 years, and her son-in-law Roy W. Page. She is survived by her sister Wilma Richards. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughter Susan (Roy) Page, son Michael (Chris) Ulichney, daughter Pauline (Jerry) Longanbach, daughter Teresa (Bill) Polack.
