Phyllis A. Hemphill, 82, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Akron General Medical Center. Born in Lafayette Township she had been a Copley area resident all of her life where she graduated from Copley High School in 1949. Phyllis was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Norton where she was very active and was a long time Sunday school teacher. She enjoyed baking cookies and spending time with her family, especially taking care of her daughter.
Preceded in death by her parents Eldo Sr. and Alma Shank; brother Eldo Shank Jr; sisters Lucille Shank, Janet Riddle and Ruth Dentler; Survivors include her loving husband of 63 years Richard; son Charles (Sharon) Hemphill; daughter Karen Hemphill; grandchildren Gregory (Nicole) Hemphill, Matthew Hemphill and Teresa (Ryan) Russ; great-grandchildren Madyson, Brayden, Isabelle and Joshua; brother William Shank; sister Jean Funk and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014, 11am, at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Norton, 3281 Cleveland-Massillon Rd, Norton, OH, Pastor Ernest Hoffman officiating. Burial in the Church Cemetery. Calling Hours Friday, 6 to 8 pm at The Church. Memorials are requested to Trinity Lutheran Church of Norton.
