Ralph H. Conrad

BARBERTON---Ralph H. Conrad, 93, passed away July 18, 2010 at Akron City Hospital.

Born in Akron, he had been an area resident all his life where he worked at Babcock and Wilcox Co. and retired from the United States Postal Service as a Letter Carrier after 30 plus years. Ralph was a member of St. Paul's Moore Memorial United Methodist Church, M.A.P.S. and enjoyed woodworking, especially making doll furniture. He was a tour guide while living at Stan Hywet Hall and was proud of being a Senior Olympian, having won many medals. Ralph was a proud Army Air Corp Veteran having served during WWII and was also an active community volunteer.

Preceded in death by his wife Marjorie; Survivors include his son Ralph E. (Francene) of Clinton ; daughter Llyn (Jeffrey) Kaimowitz of West Hartford, Conn.; grandson Simon Kaimowitz; and sister Ella Swartz of Lancaster, OH.

The family wishes to thank the ICU unit at Akron City Hospital.

Funeral Service will be held Thursday, July 22, 2010, 11 AM at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Pastor Michael Somerville officiating. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery. Calling Hours Wednesday 6-8 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Barberton Historical Society.
