Raymond L. Patrick, 80, passed away Saturday September 10, 2011 after a brief illness. Born in Barberton and raised in Norton, he served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany. Upon returning, Ray moved to Stow and worked at Goodyear Aerospace/Loral in the defense dept. for over 30 years where he went by his nickname "Pat." After retiring he moved back to Barberton where he enjoyed an active social life. He was a trustee and lifetime member of Barberton VFW Post 1066. He was also a member of the Civitan, Jednota, GBU, Liedertafel Clubs as well as Portage Lakes Eagles Club and the FOPA. He enjoyed electronics, tinkering in his basement and garage, travel, bluegrass music, playing guitar and mandolin, karaoke, where he loved to sing the song "I am a man of constant sorrows", exchanging emails and a "good martini." He was preceded in death by parents Travis and Florence Patrick, sister Dorothy Farr and brother Richard Patrick; Survivors include his daughter Linda Pownell (Ken Hardman), sister Ruth Mirtich, nephews Craig (Nancy) Farr, Chris (Dedra) Farr, niece Susan Herron (Jim), longtime companion Gladys Parsons and her family son (deceased) Michael Parsons (Mary), daughters Carol Doyle (Emmett), and Brenda (Dan) Delagrange and granddaughters Avery and Rylee; devoted neighbors Tom and Marcia Walters; and numerous friends. Special thanks to the ER and ICU staff at Summa Barberton Hospital, especially Dr. Stein and RN Ingrid. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling Hours Tuesday from 5-8 P.M.
