Raymond E. Pelton

d. September 18, 2014

NORTON---Raymond Edward Pelton aka "Popsie," 80, joined the Lord September 18th after a short battle with cancer. What a battle it was!

Ray was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War, retired from Borden's Dairy, and was currently working at the Slovene Center in Barberton, serving drinks and telling jokes to the masses. He was a kind soul, loved to laugh, and had a special gift for making others laugh with him. Ray enjoyed gardening, bird watching, trips to the casino, and making homemade noodles and soup. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

He leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 55 years, Fran Pelton, daughters Janet (Rick) Jacobs, Lisa Pelton, grandchildren Ray (Mia) Lowry, Meredith Lowry, Diana (Adam) Cogar, James Helmick, Chris, Andrew, Ryan, and Elizabeth Jacobs, brother Bob Pelton, sister-in-law Jo Pyle, nieces, nephews, and too many friends to count.

A special thanks to Akron General, Dr. Tobias, Dr. Owusu, and Ridgewood Road Hospice for the tender, loving care provided to our precious Popsie. His last message was, "Thanks to All, I've enjoyed the show."

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, September 22, 2014 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Rd., Norton. Fr. James Maloney celebrant. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling Hours Sunday from 4-7 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Monday morning at 9:30 A.M.
