Regina "Jean" M. (Buchanan) Genet

Regina "Jean" M. (Buchanan) Genet, 100, passed away December 15, 2024 at Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living. Jean was a lifetime resident of Barberton, Ohio.  She was a lifetime member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, where she was active in the Holy Hour Program and St. Monica Altar Society.  Jean volunteered at Barberton Citizens Hospital for many years, was a Girl Scout Leader and also volunteered at the Barberton Soup Kitchen and the Red Cross. Jean was preceded in death by her husband John; parents Helen and Eltas Buchanan; grandchildren Paul and Laura Yurchiak; son-in -law Frank Yurchiak; daughter and son-in-law Maureen and Robert Dudley; her sister Mary Lou Enlow; and brothers Glen and Robert Buchanan. Survivors include her daughters Rebecca Yurchiak, Dianne (John) Boyle, Mary (William) Moutschka and Barbara (David) Moss; sister Rita Strickler; and brother-in-law Joseph Genet.  She also leaves 12 Grandchildren, 30 Great-Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great-Grandchildren. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Pleasant Pointe Assisted living for the wonderful care they gave to Jean and also thank you to Affinity Hospice for their care. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2024 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St., Barberton.  Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.  Calling Hours will be held on Thursday, from 5-7 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Augustine Endowment Fund, the American Diabetes Association.
