Reverend Carl Ciprian

Rev. Fr. Carl A. Ciprian, 78, passed away November 21, 2011 at Holy Family Home in Parma. Fr. Carl was born in Canton, Ohio to the late Anthony and Domenica (nee Grassano) Ciprian. He was educated at St. Anthony Elementary School in Canton, Central Catholic High School in Canton, Athenaeum of Ohio College (St. Gregory/St. Mary Seminary) in Cincinnati, Xavier University in Cincinnati and Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corner, Wisconsin. On August 20, 1976, he was ordained as a Franciscan Friar at the Alverna Friary in Youngstown, OH. On January 1, 1992, Father Ciprian was Incardinated in the Diocese of Cleveland. Father Ciprian's first assignment was as Parochial Vicar at Holy Trinity Parish in Barberton. On March 7, 1978 he was named Pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in Barberton. He then resided as Parochial Vicar at Our Lady of Angels Parish until July 1, 1982. On July 1, 1982 Father Ciprian was named Pastor of St. Stanislaus Parish where he served until he returned to Holy Trinity Parish in Barberton. Father Ciprian served as Pastor there until June 30, 2007 when he retired. Father Ciprian then served as Chaplain for the Sisters of the Incarnate Word after his retirement. Preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers John, Pat, Domenick, Emil and Ben; and niece Christine Ciprian; Survivors include his nieces Tina (Robert) Ellison of North Carolina and Marijane (Ronald) Leonard of North Canton; and nephews Doug ( Laura Potts) Ciprian, Pat Ciprian and Mike (fiancAC. Diane Schillig) Ciprian all of Canton. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204 Sixth St. NW, Barberton. Most Reverend Richard G. Lennon will be the main celebrant. Reverend Albert A. Krupp will serve as the homilist. Interment will follow the Funeral Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron. Vespers will be celebrated by Most Reverend Roger W. Gries on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at St. Augustine with Calling Hours immediately following until 8:00 P.M.
