BARBERTON---Richard E. Steiner, 87, passed away April 22, 2012. Rich was born in Doylestown to the late Joseph and Mary (Petit) Steiner. He was a proud Army veteran having served during WWII in the 25th Infantry Division, 90th field artillery in the Philippines and New Guinea, earning three Bronze Stars, while in the South Pacific 1943-1946. Rich retired from the Appraisal Company, as branch manager after 32 years, he was a collision damage appraiser, adjuster. He was a past President Emeritus of the Akron Claims Association and a 50 year plus active member. He loved to golf, bowl, play euchre and garden.


Preceded in death by his first wife of 23 years, Allene (Korns); brother Charles (C.J.) and sister Kathleen (Katie) Feesler. He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years Trudy (Mushalek), the finest cook in the world; son David (Marcia) Mushalek; daughter Karen Pace; grandchildren Amanda, Julia, Robby, Hillary, Olivia and Joey; sisters Rosemary Adkison and Rita Verhotz; numerous nieces, nephews and friends; brother-in-law William Feesler, George (Carole) Korns of Monmouth, Ill and sister-in-law Patricia (Jim) Fitzpatrick of Plainfield, Ill.


Per his wishes cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 25, 2012, 11 a.m. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Rd, Norton, Fr. James Maloney celebrant. Inurnment Friday, 9:30 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, OH. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the Barberton Firefighter Local 329, P.O. Box 443, Barberton, OH 44203.
