Rita C. Verhotz

BARBERTON---Rita C. Verhotz, 86, passed away peacefully at her residence on December 20, 2014. Rita was born in Doylestown and was a Barberton resident most of her life. She retired from the Barberton City Schools after 14 years as a cafeteria manager. She was a faithful member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Norton. Preceded in death by her husband Jack; daughter JoAnn (Jim) Clark ; and two brothers and two sisters; Survivors include her daughters Joan Verhotz of Barberton and Janet (Tom) Fitzsimmons of Florida; son John (Linda) of Medina; grandchildren Ashley (Will) Scholz, Cathi Clark, Morgan, Kayla and Allison Verhotz, Tori Fitzsimmons, Austin Verhotz and Jill Fitzsimmons; and three great-grandchildren. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Rd., Norton. Fr. James Maloney, celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Friday from 5 to 8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
