BARBERTON---Robert J. Buchanan, 89, passed away November 14, 2011 at Summa Barberton Hospital.

Robert was born in Barberton where he was a proud lifelong resident graduating from Barberton High School January Class of 1940 and retired from B.F. Goodrich after 41 years of service. Bob was an active member of St. Augustine Catholic Church where he was the director of the Holy Hour Program for many years. He was a lifelong member of Barberton VFW Post 1066, K of C Council 1617, the Barberton Sports Boosters, a past president of the C.C.C. and an avid Notre Dame Fan. Bob was also a proud Navy Veteran having served during WWII.

Preceded in death by his parents Eltas B. and Helen; and brother Glen; Survivors include his loving wife of 64 years Rita E.; children Thomas J. (Deborah), Patricia Haskins, Paula (Robin) Adair, Janet (Jim) Hedrick and William A. (Gail); grandchildren Thomas (Ashley) Haskins, Nicole (Matt) Meyer, Anne and Elizabeth Adair, Jill Buchanan, Kimberly Haskins, Katie Hedrick, and Brett and Bryan Buchanan; great-grandchildren Logan Buchanan, Hunter Adair and Liam Robert Haskins; daughter-in-law Therese Buchanan; and sisters Regina (John) Genet, Rita Strickler and Mary Lou (Gordon) Enlow.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 18, 2011 at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204-6th St. NW, Barberton. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery where Wadsworth VFW Post 1089 and American Legion Post 170 will conduct Military Honors. Calling Hours Thursday from 4-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Friday morning at 9:30 A.M. Memorials may be made to the St. Augustine Endowment Trust Fund.
