Dr. Robert C. Carson
BARBERTON----Dr. Robert C. Carson, 86, passed away October 14, 2010 at Manor Care of Barberton.
Born in Akron, he was an area resident most of his life where he retired from the University of Akron as a Professor of Mathematics. He was a graduate of Buchtel High School, received his Bachelor's degree from Purdue University and his Doctorate from the University of Wisconsin. He was a devoted member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Norton where he served as an Elder and was on the Board of Directors of the SELC District. Robert was also a proud Army Veteran having served during WWII.
Preceded in death by his parents Dean and Kathleen; Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Jean A.; sons Reid (Kathryn) of Burke, VA, Mark (Mary) of Rockville, MD and Steven of Barberton; daughter Martha (Glenn) Wade of Arlington Heights, IL; eight grandchildren; and sister Ruth (Ralph) Bowler of Florida.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Manor Care Barberton for their care and attention of Robert.
Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, October 19, 2010, 11 AM at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5451 S. Cleve-Mass Rd., Norton. Rev. John D. Mashek officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Calling Hours Monday from 5-8 PM at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton and One Hour Prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the church.
