Robert J. Champlin,”Bob,” 87, passed away on February 10, 2025, in Wadsworth, Ohio. Born on January 16, 1938, in Oak Park, Illinois, he lived a life marked by dedication to his family, faith, and career.
Robert was a graduate of John Muir High School in Pasadena, California, before continuing his studies at City College in Pasadena. He later earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Akron in Akron, Ohio. His professional career spanned 36 years in Sales Administration with Continental General Tires before he retired in 1996.
A man of faith, Robert was an active member of Prince of Peace Parish and a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus #14111. His commitment to his church and community was an integral part of his life.
Robert is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Marilyn (Sabol) Champlin; daughters Kathy (Bill) Kirk and Pam (John) Gibson; grandchildren Lyndsey (Tom) Heffern, Miles Kirk, Nicole Gibson, and Gabrielle Gibson; and great-grandson Graham Heffern. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Louis (Wasshausen) Champlin, as well as his brothers Donald and Thomas Champlin.
Bob's Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 14, 2025 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Burial at Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling Hours will be held from 12:30 p.m to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Robert’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Summa Hospital Cardiac Rehab, 141 N. Forge St., Akron, 44304 or the St. Vincent de Paul Society at Prince of Peace.
