NORTON---Rose Lovas was called home to be reunited with her loving husband on November 10, 2014.
Rose was born March 15, 1911 to John and Mary (Kavalecz) Johanyak and was a lifetime resident of Barberton and Norton. She and her twin sister, Barbara, were accomplished piano players and performed for social events as children. She graduated from Kenmore High School with her sister in 1928. She worked from the time she was 16-years-old until she retired from Norwalk Trucking in 1975. She was a member of the Teamsters Union. She helped send her two sons to college. She was a longtime member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Barberton before moving to Norton. She was one of the original members of St. Andrew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Sherman, where she was active in the Altar Society.
After retiring, she cared for her mother and, later, her ailing husband. Later, she would love spending time with friends, her family, grandchildren, and, then, her great-grandchildren. She was always busy baking, knitting and crocheting and crocheted slippers to donate to elder care homes and a local hospital. She especially enjoyed walking and walked at least a mile every day, including the day before passing from this world to be with the Lord.
Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; her sisters, Barbara, Anne and Mary, and her brother, John. She is survived by her two sons, Richard Lovas and Charles (Katherine) Lovas; her four grandchildren, Marcia Lovas and her husband, Steven Warrington, Sara Lovas, Daniel Lovas, and Christopher (Terri) Lovas; Four great-grandchildren, Christopher DeMoss, Noah Lovas, Elijah Warrington, and Alexander Lovas.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, November 17, 2014 at SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton from 11 am to 12 p.m. followed by Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate her 103 years on this earth at 12:30 P.M. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 4022 Johnson Rd., Norton. Fr, James Maloney, celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Altar Society at St. Andrew the Apostle Church your local Alzheimer's Society.
