Ruth E. Hughes

Ruth E. Hughes, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 17, 2025 after a brief illness.

Ruth was born in Rittman to Leslie and Mabel Nida and was a 1955 graduate of Northwest High School. On November 24, 1956 she married Edward “Sonny” Hughes and they shared 64 wonderful years together. She retired from Louisiana Pacific after 38 years then returned to work at Pleasant Pointe Assisted Living in Barberton for 15 years.

Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed caring for her dogs, cats and flowers. She was an avid reader and will be sorely missed at the Barberton Library.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Edward “Sonny”; parents Leslie and Mabel; grandson Nathan Hughes; and brothers Jack and Charlie. She is survived by her son Charlie (Sue); daughter Deborah Hughes; grandson Ian Hughes; granddaughters Autumn Marthey (Brian Smith), Amy (Chad) Rachic) and Krissie Snyder; and great-grandson Tristin Snyder.

Per her wishes cremation has taken place and a small private family service will be held with a celebration of life at a later date.
