Ruth M. nee (Patrick) Mirtich, born in Barberton, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, July 30, 2013 at Rockynol Retirement Community.
After graduating from high school she was employed by the Ohio Brass Co., then went to work for the B & W Co. where she was first employed by the U.S. Navy; working for Naval officers stationed there. Ruth worked on many war-related projects-particularly the Nautilus, the first atomic-powered submarine. She then met Al, after he was discharged from the Navy, and they were married at the end of 1945. After they were married Ruth was sent to New York to work temporarily at B & W's Chrysler Bldg., Al would fly up on weekends and they both would reminisce about how they loved and enjoyed their time in New York. After leaving B & W she then worked for Alside Inc. for the President (and owner) of the company. This was also an interesting career that lasted for 26 years. Upon retirement she and Al spent their time in Ohio and Florida which they thoroughly enjoyed. Ruth had a lifetime of doing many good things for others and will be sorely missed by her family and many wonderful friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, Albert J. Mirtich, brothers Raymond and Richard Patrick and sister, Dorothy Farr, she is survived by sister-in-law Florence Bednar, nieces Sandra Conkle of Long Beach, CA, Jackie Heitic (Michael), Linda Pownell (Ken Hardman) and Susan Herron, Nephews Jeffrey Mertic (Margaret), Louis Mertic Jr. (deceased) wife Mary, Chris Farr (Dedra) and Craig Farr of FL.
A very special "thank you" to the entire 3rd floor staff of the Special Care unit of Rockynol for the exceptional care and compassion you showed Ruth, she was blessed to have a group of "Angels" taking care of her. God Bless you all.
Good bye dear friend.
