Sheila A. Axner

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sheila A. Axner, who departed this world on January 28, 2025, at age 71. She was born in Akron, Ohio, but lived most of her life in Norton working in the banking industry.  She was a beloved mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Sheila’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith touched the lives of all who knew her. Born on April 27, 1953, Sheila lived a life full of love, compassion, and devotion. Her faith in God guided her through life’s joys and challenges, providing her strength and grace. She found comfort in her spirituality and shared that light with those around her. Sheila’s greatest joy was her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and June Axner, and her sister Beverly Semler.  She is lovingly remembered by her son, Matthew (Jessica) Cunningham, and their children Travis and Grace, whom she adored deeply. She was a cherished sister to Toby (Hilton) Heineke, their children Hannah and Max; David (Chrissy) Axner, their children Brett, Kelli, Stacy, Rylee, Lindsey, and Dana.  Sheila was also blessed with a large and loving extended family, including many great-nieces and great-nephews who brought her immense joy and filled her life with even more love. Sheila was blessed with the love and support of many dear friends who stood by her side throughout her journey, offering comfort and strength through the many challenges she faced in her life. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and deep love for those she held dear will forever be remembered. Though she is no longer with us in body, Sheila’s spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her. May she rest in eternal peace. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 4, 2025 from 4-6 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Memorial Service to follow at 6:00 p.m.
