NORTON -- Stanley J. Koscik, 88, passed away Friday, April 1, 2011 at Akron General Medical Center. Born Sept. 6, 1922 in Akron, he had been an area resident all his life. He attended North High School in 1940 and was drafted December 1942 at the age of 20. Stanley was a proud Army Veteran of World War II having served from1942-1946 and had fought in the Battle of the Bulge and he was a Purple Heart Recipient. He began at B.F. Goodrich in January, 1941 as a shipping clerk and retired in 1984 after 44 years of service. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Norton, a devout member of the "Poker Club" and "the Tripoly Club" and enjoyed spending time with his friends from church, Stanley enjoyed being with his family. Preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Helen Koscik; sister, Jane Towles; and brother, Chester; Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Bea; daughters, Chris (Doug) Giffin of Roanoke, Virginia and Dede (Steve) Piesciuk of Norton; grandchildren, Jim (Heidi) Giffin, Geoff (Lindsay) Giffin and Jon (Alisha) Giffin; and great-granddaughter, Molly. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Fr. Robert Jackson celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Monday, April 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Tuesday morning at 9:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Dominican Nuns of Farmington, Michigan or the Prince of Peace, Maintanence Fund.
