Stephen Frank Charlson, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 28, 2024. Steve was born in Evansville, Indiana on August 30, 1943 to Frank and Marjorie (Holzgrafe) Charlson. Steve was a dedicated and loyal husband who openly showed his love in unparalleled ways to his sweet wife of 59 years, Jo Marie (Wolf) Charlson. Steve always loved each and every minute of being with JoMarie as they journeyed through life together. Family and faith were Steve’s cornerstones in life. Steve lived a principled life dedicated to living out his Faith. He was generous to all with his time, patience and presence. Steve was a fantastic father to his six children, providing them all with strong foundations and serving as a role model throughout their lives. He was proud of all of his children and never tired from hearing stories about them and their own families. As a grandfather, no one could ask for better than ‘Grandpa’. He was continually involved in the lives of his grandchildren whether they be near or far from home. His grandchildren brought him immense joy and, while a humble man himself, he was never hesitant to boast to others about them. In addition to family, Steve was blessed to have a number of lifelong friends. Many of these friendships were fostered through his decades of dedicated service to Babcock and Wilcox and his work with the St. Vincent de Paul Society and Right to Life. Now that he is in eternal peace, his family and friends all consider themselves as blessed for having had Steve as part of their lives.
Stephen is preceded in death by his mother, father, and daughter-in-law Sheila Charlson. Stephen is remembered by his caring family: lovely bride Jo Marie; children, Joseph (Tammy) Charlson, David (Cara) Charlson, Stephanie (David) Reese, Daniel (Bella) Charlson, Michelle (Michael) Powers, and Paul Charlson; his adoring grandchildren, Tyler Moesle, Megan Luther, Marina Charlson, Trenton Charlson, Jared Charlson, Benjamin Charlson, Gabriela Charlson, Rachel Reese, Nicole Reese, Joseph Reese, Emma Jo Powers, Andrew Powers, Jesse Powers, Griffin Charlson, Henry Charlson, Xavier Charlson, and Quinn Charlson; sister, Cathy (Darrel) Pinkston; many other family members and close friends.
