NORTON---Sylvester "Joe" Aman, 79, passed away October 19, 2014, at Akron City Hospital. Born in Barberton, Joe was an area resident all his life. He retired from the Babcock and Wilcox Co. after 40 years of service. Currently a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Doylestown, Joe had been a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodious Church, where he was an usher and a member of the Holy Name Society until its closing. Joe was a member of the wood-bee-woodcarvers. His hobbies were cutting and polishing stones and making them into rings; nature photography; and wood carving. He also loved traveling, especially going on cruises with his wife.
Preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Catherine; and brother James; Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Kathleen J.; sister Katherine Klusty; brother-in-law Robert (Patricia) Bell; sister-in-law Suzanne (Leonard) Gucciardo; brother-in-law Robert Nolte; and many nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian burial will be held 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 24, 2014, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 161 W. Clinton St., Doylestown. Fr. Robert Stein celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Thursday from 5-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sts. Peter and Paul School Scholarship Fund or the charity of one's choice.
