Veronica B. Lawrence

BARBERTON---Veronica B. (Ondo) Lawrence, passed away into the arms of our Lord April 12, 2010. Mom was born August 26, 1923 in Warden, Ill to John and Susan Ondo and moved to Ohio as an infant. She was a lifetime resident of Barberton. Mom was preceded in death by parents John and Susan Ondo; infant son Wendell Stephen; son-in-law Thomas E. Mitman; infant twin sister Elizabeth; sisters Mary Golec and Ann Klancer; brothers Michael, John and Joseph Ondo and mother and father-in-law Ambrose and Anna Ballash. Left to cherish her memory..loving wife of 68 years to Wendell; dearest mother of daughters Suzann (Rick) Steagall of Henrico, VA, Kathleen Mitman of Wadsworth, Elizabeth (Clark) Betancourt of Hagerstown, MD, Barbara (Don) Emmons of Gaithersburg, MD and Christine (Jeff) Brockman of Columbus, OH; sons David (Bonnie) Lawrence of Cheyenne, WY and Michael (Nanette) Lawrence of Wadsworth; beloved grandmother of 20; treasured great-grandmother of 11 (plus a baby girl due in May and twin girls due in July); nieces and nephews and friend to many. She was affectionately called "Nanny" by her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and others. Currently a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, mom was a former member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Barberton all her life until it's closing in June 2009, she was also a member of the St. Ann's society and the Rosary Society. Her deepest love was her family and she was surrounded by us throughout her life. Mom loved traveling especially to visit her family. We'll always remember the fun we had on our family vacations! She was a big bingo fan, enjoyed playing the lottery and bowling, loved polka music and cherished her time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be solely missed and will live in our hearts forever. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you for all the compassion and loving care given by Dr. Sandra Hazra and the nurses and staff at Hospice of VNS in Copley. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday April 16, 2010, 10:00 A.M. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave, Norton, Fr. Robert Jackson celebrant. Interment at St. Nicholas Cemetery. Calling Hours Thursday 4-7 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton where prayers will be said 9:30 A.M. Friday. In lieu of flowers donations in mom's memory may be made to VNS Hospice, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Copley, OH 44333 or Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
