Vivian J. Ligas, 83, began a new journey on November 25, 2011. A lifetime resident of Barberton and member of St. Augustine Catholic Church, Vivian was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was and will always be remembered as a woman of great strength. Through her unconditional love, faith and dedication, Vivian led by example. She along with her husband Joe and father Julean instilled responsibility and a strong work ethic in her children. Vivian made holidays and birthdays especially memorable with thoughtful cards, bright decorations, delicious meals and a vast array of cookies. She was an avid reader and movie goer who enjoyed long car rides, trips to the beach and casino and Acme donuts. Vivian has been joyously reunited with her husband Joseph; daughter Jane; and her parents Julean and Mary Dumont. She is survived by her loving children Dr. James Ligas of Conneticut, Thomas (Grace) of New Jersey, Timothy (Jo) of Minnesota, Mary Jo (Leon) Loveland and Nancy (Tony) Zagar with whom she has resided with for many years; dearest grandchildren Jennifer (Steve Truxell) Ligas, Jason (Lindsay), Julian, Matteson and Owen Ligas; special great-grandchildren of Minnesota, Charlie, Zach, Dylan and Zoe; aunt Ann Konyak of Pennsylvania; brother-in-laws Andrew (Catherine), George (Norma) and Pete Ligas; sister-in-law Margaret (Richard) Seifert; many nieces and nephews, especially Teena for her healthcare consults; and special friend Margaret Haby. The family wishes to thank Dr. Paul Coleman and staff for their exceptional care and support. Dr. Roseline Okeke whose excellent treatment and compassionate care allowed Vivian many more wonderful years after her lymphoma diagnosis. Special caregivers Debbie, Lizzy, Pam, Judy and Shannon; and Barberton Fire Dept.--strong men with a sense of humor that was much appreciated after her falls. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2011, 9:00 A.M. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, 204-6th St. NW, Barberton. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Monday from 5-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Tuesday morning at 8:30 A.M. Memorials may be made to the St. Augustine School Library.
