MARIETTA---W. John Shimp

A Gentle soul joined God and the angels on November 14, 2015. W. John Shimp passed away at the age of 70.

He was an artist who loved both nature and technology and also really loved cats. He earned a BFA in photography from the University of Akron. He worked many years as a Media Technician at Bedford High School and Stark State College. He studied martial arts and meditation for over 50 years, teaching Tai Chi and natural spiritual healing for more than 20 years.

Preceded in death by his parents Francis and Nancy; Survivors include his daughter Kathy Shimp; ex-wife and friend Jean Shimp; brother Bob; and many nieces, nephews, friends and students.

Funeral Service will be held at 6 P.M. on Friday, November 20, 2015 at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Rev. Robert Jackson officiating. Calling Hours ONE PRIOR to the Service. Private interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
