BARBERTON---Walter N. Smith left this earthly life on August 24, 2011. Born on April 28, 1940 in Akron, OH to parents Walter Sr. and Clara Smith, Walter was a Barberton resident most of his life while also spending 16 years in Florida. He attended the Grace Church North Campus, was an appliance repairman for 25 years and volunteered as a law enforcement officer in Wadsworth and Medina. While residing in Florida, Walter was a small engine repairman and volunteered as a firefighter and EMT taking part in saving many lives.


Preceded in death by daughter Linda; grandson Jon Paul Snow; his parents; stepfather Boyd Sterling and 7 siblings the most recent and closest brother James Smith. He leaves behind his loving wife of 53 yrs. Suzanne (Witwer); children Richard (Imelda), Nicholas (Linda) and Julie (Snow) Smith all of Florida and Timothy, Thomas and Vincent of Ohio; grandchildren Ryan, Sean, Katherine (K.C.), Jennifer, Alison, Dusty Jr. (April), Michael (Cassandra), Jon Luke, Joshua (mother Michelle), Trevor and Trenton (mother Toni), Cara Dawn (Jason) and Jaxon Paul (mother Beth); great-grandsons Levi and Noah Snow; siblings Richard, Viola, Ruth and especially loved sister Anna (Ted) Quesenberry of Bridgeton, NJ; best friends Eddie and Marnie Beairsto of Florida; many close In-Laws and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins living and deceased.


Per Walter's wishes there will be no calling hours or services. Burial to take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be sent to the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. W., Barberton, c/o the Smith family.
