BARBERTON----Walter J. Snyder, 92, passed away April 16, 2011.


Born in Sherman, Ohio he was a Barberton and Norton area resident most of his life where he retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Co. He also lived in Florida for 35 years. Walter was a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, Barberton Moos Lodge 759 and Elks Lodge 1923. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and telling stories.


Preceded in death by his wife Doris and son Michael; Survivors include his daughter Marilyn Dickel of Barberton; daughter-in-law Sue Snyder of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren Jeff (Michelle) Snyder, Kristy (Marty) Gilbert, Tom (Angie) Dickel and Connie (Thom) Reece; and Ten great-grandchildren.


Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 20, 2011, 10 A.M. at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. Rev. James Maloney celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Challenge Golf League at Edwin Shaw, 1596 Flickinger Rd., Akron, OH 44312.
