William Russell “Squeak” Abbott, age 73, passed away on March 30th ,2026. He was born on February 17th, 1953, in Olive Hill, Kentucky, and later made his home, Ohio.
Bill was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Carmen Abbott: He was a proud and loving father to Brandi (John) Bergdorf, Dawn (Chris) Neal, Angela Acevedo (Bruce Woods), Mary (Nick) Folden. He was also a cherished Grandfather to 13 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to his life.
He is survived by his sisters Ruby, Sandy, Barb (Mike), Patty, and Peggy (David), along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Bill shared a special lifelong bond with his cousin Terri (Dave), who was like a sister to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Goldie Abbott, his brother Teddy Abbott, his brother-in-law Ron Daiger, his Uncle Roy Braddock, and his beloved dog Harlow.
Bill Dedicated many years of hard work to the Ohio department of transportation (ODOT), from where he retired. He had a heart of gold and was always willing to help anyone in need.
Bill loved all sports, especially NASCAR, and enjoyed golfing, camping and hunting. He also adored his dog, Harvey. Bill was known for his intelligence, quick wit, and wonderful sense of humor.
Bill’s legacy of love, kindness and dedication to family will live on in all who knew and loved him.
Bill’s family will receive friends on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 4-6 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. A Celebration of Life Dinner will follow from 6-9 p.m. at Coventry Oaks Lodge, 40 Axline Ave., Akron.
