BARBERTON--William Ducar, 87, passed away October 12, 2015 at The Orchards of Ridgewood after a long period of declining health.
Bill was born in Akron on December 26, 1927, one of fourteen children and the son of the late Mary and Nicholas Ducar. He attended Wadsworth High School and went on to work on the Great Lakes as a merchant marine aboard the ore carrier Leon Fraser. Later, after serving in the U.S. Army, he was employed at the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company, retiring with 35 years of service.
Bill was a member of the Barberton Moose, Knights of Columbus, P.L.A.V. and the P.N.A. In his free time, he enjoyed bowling, walking, working crossword puzzles and spending time with family.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by twelve brothers and sisters. Survived by Lorraine, his loving wife of 62 years, he also leaves behind daughter Paula (Steve) Cole of Indianapolis, IN, son William Ducar Jr. of Barberton, brother Michael Ducar of Black Mountain, NC and many nieces and nephews.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton with Fr. Robert Jackson, celebrant. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours will be Friday from 5-8 P.M. at the SILVA-HOSTETLER FUNERAL HOME, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton, where prayers will be said Saturday morning at 9:30 A.M. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Prince of Peace Church.
