William J. Sumer

William J. Sumer, "Bill", 79, passed away at Greenfield Estates in Copley on September 5, 2023 from complications of dementia. He was a US Air Force Veteran serving in Vietnam and the Dominican Republic. He retired from Ohio Bell after 31 years of service.

Preceded in death by his wife RaeAnn (Barlow); parents Stephen and Eileen; and sister Patricia Baughman; He is survived by his son William Jr. (Brenda); granddaughters Michelle Sumer (fiancé Thomas) and Melissa (Zack) Adkins; great-grandchildren Jacob, Aieden, Aleah and Skylar; wife Barbara McMillan; sister Stephanie (Marshal) Berkley; and brothers-in-law Bob (Nancy) Barlow, Joe Barlow and Fred (Libby) Barlow.

Bill's Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Rd. West, Barberton. Deacon Robin Adair officiating. Burial with Military Honors at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Calling Hours Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial luncheon will follow at Houston Pub.
