William (Bill) Joseph Winebrenner, 89 of Cuyahoga Falls, formerly of Medina, Ohio passed away peacefully Tuesday July 15, 2025 with his family by his side. He was born August 30, 1935 in Barberton, Ohio to the late Carl and Lucy Winebrenner.
Bill graduated from Barberton High School and proudly served his country as a United States Marine Corps Reservist for eight years, beginning a long career of service to others. He joined the Ohio State Highway Patrol in 1958 where he served as a Trooper, Corporal, and Sergeant with stops at the Fremont and Norwalk patrol posts before finally settling at the Medina post. Bill retired from the Highway Patrol in 1988 after a thirty year career. He was proud of his time and service with the organization and was a great example of hard work and dedication After retiring from the Highway Patrol, Bill continued his work for the State of Ohio taking a position as an Inspector for the Ohio State Racing Commission where he worked until 1998.
Bill is survived by his wife, Donna (Reeder), and just recently celebrated an amazing seventieth wedding anniversary. Together, they raised their nine children, leaving little time for much else. When he did have time, Bill enjoyed playing slow pitch softball, playing and dancing to polka music, everything Jim Thorpe related, and attending the various sporting activities of his children and grandchildren.
He is also survived by his daughters, Amy (Dave) Onest , Shelly (Richard) Dalrymple, and Margo Winebrenner; sons, Eric (Jennifer), Keith (Michelle), Kurtis (Kimberly), Bruce (Pam), Daryn (Christa), Jason (Lesli); sister Rosemary (Chuck) McCue as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Lucy; brother Robert (Rita); daughter-in-law, Kimberly and granddaughter Emily.
There will be no calling hours. A private memorial service will be held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Akron at a later date. In Lieu of flowers or memorial contributions, the family requests that you honor Dad’s memory by gathering with family and friends, share a laugh, offer a hug, and maybe dance a polka or two.
