Andrew Drobnak Jr. Obituary

Andrew “Andy” John Drobnak, Jr. passed away at Fairview Hospital on May 11, 2021. He was born in Fairview Park on January 9, 1932. From his days at St. Ignatius High School, Andy showed a proclivity for business, as his classmates noted that Andy kept them regularly informed of commodity prices. Andy received a Gold Cup from the Stamp Club at St. Ignatius and also had a love for Broadway Musicals, playing roles himself in Community Theater. After spending a year at Assumption Seminary in San Antonio (Texas), he started the Drobnak Sales Company. He taught 7th grade English while building his import business. After he married Mary Anne Ledford in 1968, he stopped teaching to focus on his business, which he named Global Creations. In 1989, he began working for O’Neils Department Stores, and then Kaufman’s and then May’s at the Summit Mall location. He was a Diamond Star employee several times over. After retiring, he began working for The Original Mattress Factory, where he continued working until 81 years old.

Andy and his wife Mary Anne Ledford had one child, Kenneth Paul Drobnak. Andy was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew John Drobnak, Sr and Mary Barbara Dolinsky Drobnak, brother Paul Anthony Drobnak, sister Barbara Drobnak Brenchley (William) and cousin Anita Brenchley. He is survived by his wife Mary Anne Drobnak, son Kenneth Paul Drobnak, brother Leonard Drobnak (Elizabeth), Paul’s widow Ellen Bloom Drobnak, cousins Thomas Drobnak (Joan), John Drobnak (Niña), Dianne Drobnak Miller (Matt), Michael Brenchley (Stefanie), Kathy Brenchley Stanley, David Brenchley and also Susan Drobnak Ellington.

In 1946, Andy graduated from St. Angela Merici and from St. Ignatius High School in 1950. Andy attended Fenn Business College and served in the ROTC. He was a certified graphoanalysist and member of the International Graphoanalysis Society.
