Andrew Miklos Obituary

Andrew Thomas Miklos, a wannabe cowboy, hung up his boots on March 28th, surrounded by his loving family.

Andy (or Tom, if you are family) was born on a hot and muggy June day in Barberton. He is the first son of Andrew J. and Clara A. (Wigh) Miklos. He is a big brother to James (Jacqueline) Miklos of Fort Wayne, In., Michael (Barbara) Miklos of Bolivar, Oh., and Kenneth (Beth) Miklos of Wadsworth. Andy is predeceased by his parents, his favorite uncle, James Wigh, and his brothers Jim and Kenny. If our parents’ wedding lasted for several days, imagine the hunky party that greeted him in heaven!

Andy is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Yvonne (Kempe), of almost 60 years. His favorite firstborn daughter and son in law, Andrea & Tim Schroeder of Canal Fulton, oh.; his favorite son and daughter in law, Andrew Thomas II & Tiffany Miklos, also of Canal Fulton, Oh., and last but definitely not least, his baby, Arica, and son in law Jason Copeland of Wadsworth. Andy is also survived by his five grandchildren, who are the apples of his eye, Drew (Mallory) Schroeder, Papa’s favorite soldier and movie buddy. Andrew Thomas III, with whom he shared a love of animals, AKA the animal whisperers. Brayden Miklos, who would talk with his Papa for hours on end about everything and anything but, most of all, Papa’s childhood. His favorite twins, Jalen, who has the biggest heart, always loves to help her grandparents, and is Papa’s best girl and Jason Copeland, his favorite athlete who he loved watching play baseball and basketball. He enjoyed telling his grandchildren stories about the Longa-Longa and the Cucamonga that lived in the woods behind their house. Papa would take them on grand hunting adventures looking for the mythical creatures. Dad was fondly referred to as Uncle Andy by many nieces and nephews; John (Marge) Kuziak, Michael (Lori) Kuziak, Michele (Steve) Landstoffer, Jim (Kendra) Miklos, Maria (Matt) Kline, Christina (Joel) Woloch, Lisa (Adam) Mahaffey, and Mathew (Kailie) Miklos. Great nieces and nephews too numerous to list or this would go on forever!

Andrew retired from Goodyear after 36 years of loyal service, where he worked hard or hardly worked, based on what story you heard, as a pipefitter. He was a member of the Antique Automobile Club of America with his 1926 Auburn Brougham, Miss Lillian. Dad left us with wonderful memories and wanted their condominium in Myrtle Beach to be his legacy for his family to enjoy and carry on for many years to come.

Andy loved reading Louis L’ Amour’s Westerns. He could be found sitting on his front porch with his parrot, Lola, reading a good Western book or talking with his Trails End neighbors, especially Joe and Cindy. When in Myrtle Beach he loved holding court with his “Staff” buddy Billy Cain.

In one of the last conversations we had, Dad said, “Well, this old cowboy has run out of lasso.” He knew his end was near. It will be so hard to live in a world without him, but we can take comfort in knowing he is up in heaven with all his family and friends eating Hungarian sausage, cabbage rolls, and Barberton chicken! You can bet he is slipping treats to his beloved pets too.

We would love to thank Danbury Senior Living in Massillon, Crossroads Hospice, Uncle Mike and Aunt Barb Miklos, Aunt Sandra Kuziak, the Wigh sisters, and Father Jackson for all of the loving care given to Dad, both physically and spiritually.

Andy’s Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, April 6th, from 12-2 p.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church. We would like to invite everyone to a celebration of life dinner following mass.
